Review: HydraFacial Platinum at Mizu Aesthetic Clinic

Have you heard of the latest Hydrafacial Platinum Facial that’s all the rage in Singapore now?

Getting started with my HydraFacial at Mizu Aesthetic

Good skin care begins at home, but great skin care, in my opinion, requires a great aesthetic clinic that can care for your skin more efficiently and professionally than how you can at home! Beauty is a key part of my life/work and I am always eager to try new treatments and procedures.

I’ve heard plenty about the latest superstar facial treatment to hit our sunny island Singapore, and boy was I excited! If you haven’t yet heard of HydraFacial, it is known as the celebrity facial – celebrities like Beyonce, Britney Spears, Kate Winslet, Denise Van Outen and Paris Hilton are all big fans!

What’s HydraFacial?

In the process of a HydraFacial, your skin first gets a gentle cleanse + peel, then a painless extraction with suction technology, and then hydrated with HydraFacial super serums, ending in LED Light Therapy.

If you’re wondering what’s so special about HydraFacial, it actually uses a medical-grade resurfacing treatment that clears out your pores, plus hydrate your skin. After a HydraFacial, you can expect cleansed, smooth skin and an instantly gratifying glow and hydration that you won’t be able to achieve by yourself.

I popped down to Mizu Aesthetic Clinic at Marina Bay Link Mall in Singapore to experience the much-raved-about HydraFacial, and boy was I genuinely impressed with the end results! Read on for my experience 🙂

HydraFacial Step 1: Lymphatic Therapy

I started the Platinum HydraFacial treatment regime with a detoxification process using Lymphatic Therapy.

Did you know that lymphatic therapy actually helps to improve blood circulation of the skin and body? Removing toxic build up via lymphatic therap is an important step in HydraFacial so that our skin can be healthy inside and out!

Lymphatic therapy

High pressure suction is applied in a specialized directional method to manually massage and drain lymph nodes during this step. The lymphatic drainage treatment to improve lymph flow and assist in the drainage of stagnant cellular fluid and toxins.

This process was actually quite relaxing and comfortable!

The lymphatic therapy is followed by the rest of the Deluxe HydraFacial to deeply cleanse, extract and hydrate the skin while addressing specific skin concerns with add-on super serums.

HydraFacial Step 2: Exfoliation

We then moved on to using the unique, patented Vortex-Fusion delivery system to exfoliate my skin!

Using the HydroPeel Treatment Tip

This vortex effect helps to easily dislodge and remove impurities while simultaneously delivering hydrating skin solutions.

It is also extremely hygienic as well because one-time use only HydroPeel Treatment tips are used to ensure better hygiene and efficacy of the treatment! 🙂

HydraFacial Step 3: Skin Resurfacing

After exfoliation, my skin was resurfaced using Glycolic and Salicylic Acid Peel. It’s gentle enough not to over-irritate your skin even for sensitive skin like mine, yet helps to even out skin tone and improve skin texture.

HydraFacial Step 4: Extraction

The most satisfying step follows next – Extraction of debris and sebum of your pores, once again with this superb Vortex-Fusion technology that produces a powerful suction that sucks out all of the gunk from your pores and help to unclog and dislodge impurities!

Another plus point is that despite the strong suction from the HydroPeel Treatment tips, they do not leave red residual marks like what I usually experience from manual extraction. My skin usually reacts to manual extraction but not with HydraFacial!

The gunkie jar with the aftermath of my exfoliation and extraction. Notice how the water has turned a murky greyish color with bits of residue from the blackheads and dead skin that has been removed from my face! Eeeeeks. Love imagining all of the gross stuff being sucked out of my pores hahaha.

HydraFacial Step 5: Deep Hydration

After the thorough exfoliation, resurfacing and extraction, your skin is ready for deep hydration and to absorb all of the goodness from the Super Booster serums!

These are the special peptide booster serums used during HydraFacial

DermaBuilder serum helps to soften fine lines and wrinkles while Britenol targets the sun spots and pigmentation on our skin.

Using the SuperBooster Serums

The serums are deeply infused into the skin with HydraFacial’s proprietary technology once again, for the most efficacy!

HydraFacial Step 6: LED Light Therapty

HydraFacial LED Light Therapy

The HydraFacial treatment concluded with Red or Blue LED Light Therapy. Red LED Light therapy stimulates blood circulation whereas Blue LED light helps to target and disrupt acne-causing bacteria.

Last but not least, a serum and moisturizer was applied and we were all done with the entire HydraFacial process!

My thoughts about HydraFacial

All in all, I really enjoyed the HydraFacial treatment because the entire process was so gentle and comfortable. There wasn’t any painful extraction or red marks left on my skin after!

Although I take care of my skin quite well on a regular basis, the HydraFacial felt like a “deep cleanse” that I would not be able to do by myself at home. My skin felt really clean, refreshed and hydrated after the treatment. (Check out how much cleaner my nose is, below!).

Definitely lesser clogged pores and blackheads after HydraFacial!

It’s been a while since I did a facial, but the results of the HydraFacial left me really impressed with my visibly cleaner and glowier complexion and skin! I also noticed that my facial pores seemed a little less obvious, and had a healthier and more hydrated appearance after my HydraFacial session.
