Seoul Day 4/5 πŸ‡°πŸ‡·

Dear Dayre,

Good morning! I'm gonna carry on from where I last left off at Garuso-gil!

By the way, still very pleased with my new glasses so I think it was a worth-while purchase! πŸ˜‚

We had fried chicken for dinner on Friday night at Hanchu, a pretty local eatery around Garuso-gil area! I googled and found it recommended on @aroimakmak's blog so I decided to give it a try.

It was not bad too! Crispy fried πŸ—!

We ordered this rice cake dish that came with the potato glass noodles – those are so chewy and yummy!

The fried chicken that was really rather good. Freshly fried and even the breast meat prices were quite juicy!

Seasoning wise tho we had the regular one which doesn't have any fancy taste to it, tasted just like regular homemade fried chicken except if was crispier (I read that they double fry it for the extra crispy texture!)

I do like the ambience of the eatery cos it's very chill and. or too noisy so we spent a good hour plus chatting over dinner! ❀

Tokyo Cheese Factory has a new store at Garusogil and we stumbled upon it near the dinner place! It was our last stop for the night before going back home. I've actually never seen a proper store for the brand in Japan cos I usually only buy their biscuits back from the airport πŸ˜‚

We bought the cheesecake to try and it was so light and fluffy, damn nice! It's also tiny and quite expensive la but all Japanese cheesecakes are like that.

Day 4 in Seoul!

Friday OOTD!

Super cold weather and we woke up to SNOW!!! So i decided to just bundle up liao keeping toasty warm is more important than chio when the highest temperature is negative six or something.

By the way, this is the coldest i've ever been in Seoul although it was very cold too the last time I visited in winter many years ago!

This melon milk is da bomb! 🍈

Almost as good as my fav watermelon milk from Taiwan but nothing beats that.

We spent our Friday back at Garuso-gil – Cafe hopping!!

The place is just peppered with cafes all over and a lot of them actually sell yummy stuff! Some are rather expensive but well it's always lovely to spend some time chilling and catching up over a hot coffee or hot tea out of the freezing cold.

First stop was a cafe next to 8econds called "The Garden"!

The entire interior is FILLED with dried flowers hanging from the ceiling! It was dimly lit and cosy (I like but bad for taking photos haha) and gave a sort of middle-eastern vibe with colourful patterns and tapestry all around.

Love all the dried flowers, so pretty!

I'm not going to list all the cafes we tried here cos i'll be writing up a blog post about it plus I don't have a lot of the photos in my phone cos I was using my camera most of the time!

Took a photo with Brown at the Line Cafe & Shop!! Hehehe so huge and cute!

This tart from Deux Cremes was really good! Not the usual pie crust that I was expecting but had more of a flaky crust that went well with the strawberry and pistachio combination.

But yeah I saw these gloves selling in a shop at Garusogil and decided to get them LOL so frivolous and cute those pompoms~~~~!

Around 30,000+ won can't remember exactly!

Evening shot of Garuso-gil as the sun is setting. The tree-lined street is really pretty!

Tammi bought a cute furry beret too that she's wearing above!

Lololol all these frivolous buys but soooo cute πŸ€—

We cafe-hopped til evening time and I wanted to bring the two to Myeongdong for that awesome budae-jigae I had there previously. It was about two years ago and I remember liking the place so much cos it was cheap and good!

Unfortunately tho, the restaurant changed into some BBQ buffet place but still served army stew so we went for it!

It was quite inexpensive at 19000 won but the taste and ingredients were quite off from what I remember? πŸ™ And they used to have this really good mussels stew but it's no longer available so i'm wondering if the entire restaurant changed and they just kept budae jigae for the customers that keep coming for it πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

I found my favourite gyaeran bbang aka egg bread at Myeong Dong but was amazed that the prices have inflated and now one bread costs 2000 won!!!

I got it at Ewha for 1200 won just a few days ago and also when I was in Seoul two years back it cost like 800-1000 won, max also 1200. SO EXPENSIVE NOW 😭

Loving how every day is a good hor day in the drier climate though 😒 Hair is never this nice in Singapore!!

Also, I bought this hideous pair of russian doll socks from Flying Tiger πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

Because
1. Russian dolls!
2. I like toed socks
3. They're long, good for my wellies!

Bwahahaha so hideous and I love it 😬

Day 5 in Seoul πŸ‡°πŸ‡·

On Day 5, we woke up to our coldest day in Seoul yet – It was a freezing -9 deg in the morning and the thermometer was reading negative the entire day! 😰

So damn cold really haha I nearly forgot what it feels like to actually be warm once i'm outdoors.

The sunrise was so beautiful though!

I bought a four-pack of this limited edition packaging banana milk. Soooo cute the packaging!!!

Good face and hair day! Sigh…… Come back to Singapore sure chui liao πŸ˜ͺ

Me with my banana milk.

We left the house in late morning to head to Kwang Jang market! My first time at the markets πŸ€—

The market was super crowded with alot of tourists and some locals, very interesting sight with a lot of foreign looking korean dishes I didn't recognise!

All kinds of kimchi and pickled produce selling at Kwang Jang. Tammi had a field day buying pickled produce!

A ridiculously hilarious board I saw at one of the shops with translations and pronouciations in chinese and english πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

There are tons of street food stalls at the market so we picked a random stall and sat down for some food! I was freezing and needed something hot so I ordered the banquet noodles, which were rather underwhelming to me? Hahaha. No particular flavour to it, just noodles in a broth! The noodles were kind of soggy too, not my thing. I finished most of the soup though because it was nice and hot!

The most exciting part of the day though had to be our experience with raw beef and octopus at one of the restaurants at Kwang Jang market – Tammi really wanted to try the raw beef and octopus and so we found a restaurant, sat down and ordered this plate for 25,000 won 😰😰😰

Tammi was all ready to dig in until we noticed movement on the plate and realised that….

WE WERE NOT EXPECTING THE OCTOPUS TENTACLES TO BE SQUIRMING ON THE PLATE! 😱

I'm not THAT adventurous when it comes to food lolol so I only tried the beef. LOL moving octopus I just kenot guys 😰

Anyways, raw beef isn't quite my thing cos I find it a little too slimy and chewy for my taste! Not a fan of slimy food so all I had was that one mouthful hahaha πŸ˜‚

It was so funny to see the octopus tentacles still sucking on to the chopstick when Tammi picked it up to eat….. Eeewwwww.

After the exciting lunch, we took the train over to Myeongdong for shopping time!!

In fact, I started shopping from the train station haha you know how there are little shops underground at the train stations πŸ˜‚

Saw a cute bucket bag with a tassel design and I really liked the wine color so I bought this for 25,000 won! @zuanqing says taobao can find for cheap but it's ok the quality is rather good and I like the design a lot plus I get to have it on the spot 😬

There's also tons and tons of street food at Myeong dong and we tried as many stalls as we could πŸ˜‚

This fried chicken with teokkpoki in hot sauce was damn shiok!

And another of my favs – Tornado potato! Usually the ones in singapore aren't that good but the one I had was a bit cold from being left out in the negative degs weather 😒 It was still crispy though!

Maybe i'll go back another day to get this again cos θΏ˜ζ²‘ζœ‰ηˆ½εˆ° πŸ™Š

Olive Young selling banana milk lip balm.. So cute but super ex?? I think around 6000 won!

LINE toys that can be heated up. As to what purpose…. I'm not so sure but they sure are cute.

We did army stew for dinner again cos Sam wanted to!

This restaurant was a lot more expensive but their stew was also a lot better. We almost wanted to order BBQ, but it was soooo much more expensive than the restaurant we went to at Hongdae that we abandoned the notion. Not worth it to pay so much!

Our budae-jigae was good but so expensive leh! 30,000 i think? Didn't realise how much it cost until we sat down and looked at the menu. Ah well.

Was very pleased with my shopping loot hehehe LANEIGE BB case ❀😍❀😍❀😍 The limited edition one is too pretty! BUY.

I also bought a refill of the new brow cushion to try cos seriously wah every freaking thing also can cushion. Next should be lip cushion liao.

But anyway the brow cushion looked promising when I tried it in the store so I bought it! Then i bought the 2-tone lip bar as well because 20% off over 80,000 won #singaporean

I bought this TINY hair dryer cos it was too adorable. Anyway it's like 12,000 which is not very expensive la!

It actually works not too bad just that it's so small that it does take a very long time to get my hair dry with this….: πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

Updates til here for now – It's bed time! I've been updating on IG stories too so maybe you wanna pop over if you wanna see more! πŸ€—

NIGHT NIGHT!
