Dear Dayre,

Sometimes hor taking photos is really the bane of my lifeeeeee.

As you know. It's a very big part of my job(s – Both TVD and blog stuff) to take photos.

I love taking photos leh! But I hate taking photos of myself πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ I REALLY HATE IT LEH. Sounds ironic right.

But it's true. I love taking a good foodie photo or a nice flatlay or product shot. Taking photos of myself however, is always a HUGE challenge.

Mostly because I don't have a IG Husband (unless said Husband is very free and happens to be around when I need help. But then again he's not really that great a photographer but is now decent after years of training) so most of my photos that I take for myself (on my IG or blog) are all self-taken πŸ™„πŸ™„πŸ™„

For instance, this series of photos that I took for a Westgate campaign (the full series of photos are on my blog haha)

I had to take three outfits (different bags, different shoes/accessories) and also details of my outfits.

And yup I did it all by my own little wee self. With a tripod and my iphone as remote control πŸ˜‚

Can you spot my phone in my hand πŸ™„

I spent two and a half hours under a very hot sun to take three outfits coz for every outfit, I had to change into it, then look for a nice backdrop and then set up the tripod and make sure the angle is accurate before I start snapping via remote. If the lighting not nice then need to change location and re-set up tripod again.

Makeup and hair already chui until…..

Sorry for the standard "hand in hair pose" — it's very difficult to be creative when you have to DIY everything and worry about spoiling shoes on loan cuz of all the walking back and forth to adjust camera/tripod. Some more wearing heels omg very stressful.

I nearly died when the client asked if I could retake the photos for this campaign because they were all taken in the same location and they wanted to portray a different feel for every outfit πŸ˜‚

BUT OMG END UP THE CLIENT WAS SATISFIED WITH MY PICTURES 😭😭😭 Thank goddddddd πŸ™πŸ»

Probably one of my biggest challenges to date, taking multiple outfit photos of myself and by myself in one sitting πŸ™ˆ

Selfie with product shots are slightly easier cuz just need to employ the flip-screen and self-timer!

Behind-the-scenes..

This is me in Japan.

DIY-ing our couple shots too because it's very hard to find a random good photographer and very paiseh to ask random passerby to take shot after shot if you're not satisfied with the first couple of shots. πŸ˜‚

This shot was also DIY-ed but I advise you only doing it IN JAPAN AND NOWHERE ELSE cos later you turn back after ten seconds camera and tripod already byebye liao πŸ™ˆπŸ™ˆπŸ™ˆ

Not too bad for a self-timer shot, eh?

Just finished shooting some products today too for an upcoming Nivea campaign (love the products they are so good 😍) and same thing — set-up camera & tripod, then DIY remote control/self-timer mode.

Sometimes, it's really very tiring and challenging to θ‡ͺε―Όθ‡ͺζΌ” man. But such is my life. πŸ˜‚ And many other bloggers'!

A great photo is really very important when it comes to product advertising (for any kind of product, really). How I wish I had a photographer to take chio photos for me all the time!

But for now, I can only make do with
1. Self-timer
2. Kind Friends
3. Occasional IG Husband without a lot of patience when it comes to photography 😢

There is really no point to the above rambling except that
1. If you have an IG Husband you are very lucky
2. A lot of work goes into my photos 😭
3. But I still love taking photos in general & my jobs
4. Olympus cameras are fabulous for self-shots

It's way easier when I'm not the one in front of the camera πŸ˜‚ Still tiring but less stressful for sure.

Tonight it's #thevelvetdolls photoshoot whooooo so yay to having a pretty girl in front of the camera so that all I need to do is to snap snap and snap! πŸ€—πŸ€—πŸ€—

The tripod I use – Manfrotto Compact Action Aluminium Tripod

This is my trusty little tripod that I used with the Olympus E-PL8 for all my Japan self-shots. It's fairly lightweight so can be carried around without too much of a hassle!

My current camera – Olympus E-PL8

Currently using: Olympus E-PL8!

It's the latest in the series of Pens, and it's as fabulous as all other Olympus cameras. I've been an Oly user since 2010 and still going strong! πŸ™ŒπŸ»

Yay just finished photoshoot and on my way home now!!!!!
