This photo was taken just two weeks ago.
It’s always hard to believe it when a life is gone, abruptly.
Especially when it was a bright flame burning strong, still in the prime of its youth.
There were going to be so many years ahead of him.
Him that was warm and alive, amicable and easy-going. Now no longer moving, no longer breathing. Lying still and unnatural in death, in a lacquered wooden box.
When a life is taken away, what’s left behind are the empty spaces that were once occupied by his presence.
That feeling of finality, of knowing that he’ll never laugh again, never walk again, never breathe again, is crushing.
Don’t take your loved ones for granted. You won’t always have the chance to say good bye.
Until we meet again, Leonard.
