Dear Dayre,
Here's a fast and furious update of the past few days in Fiji!! I'm really sorry that the past few days were super tiring and I didn't update daily.. But I'm gonna be blogging in detail on my blog, so here's a quick run-down of what we've been up to!
Day 3 was spent doing WHITE WATER RAFTING!
This is my second time doing white water rafting and boy was it exhausting! Our route down the Upper Navua River covered a total of 24km in five hours!
We started out so dry… But there was not a single dry hair on us once we got through those waters π
Don't judge my two ponytails… My hair is too short to be tied up properly in one ponytail and chunks of hair keep falling out from my ponytail so I decided to just tie it up into two and get it over and done with π§π»
The view was SO BEAUTIFUL!
It was a very scenic route and the river passed through a deep chasm in which you could see cliffs towering over on both sides.
The weather turned chilly and drizzly and 24km really felt like foreverrrrrr π We just kept rowing and rowing and rowing.. Ended up belting out songs at the top of our lungs to keep ourselves (and other fellow boatsmen) entertained with various top hits ranging from Carpenters to Taylor Swift to Teresa Teng lollll!
Our river guide Abraham was completely hilarious and even joined us in the singing while he expertly guided us through the waters and rapids. All the Fijians we encountered were very friendly and had a crazy sense of humor that cracked us up!
We had a super funny cultural exchange and taught one another some very useful phrases and words in Fijian dialect and Hokkien HAHAHA.
Rowed and rowed for what felt like eternity but in actual fact was only about 12km before we took a break for lunch on a little sheltered cliff along the river!
Our lunch was prepared by the guides and was really simple. Bread, diced up chicken and tuna plus some raw veggies, but it tasted like the best thing on earth at that point of time!
So. Much. Yum.
Even though we were so shagged out already, we had to take the opportunity for a photo op because well, it's part of the job, yknow?
So we jumped into the freezingggg cold water and swam across to the opposite river bank while our manager Mabel snapped shots for us from the other side πππ
I swear it's really dedication to our craft. We had to remove our life jackets and helmets and it was sooo cold!
But I did get one insta-worthy picture with the breath-taking rocks and clear water πππ
#bloggerlife It was super tough to look pretty and chio after two and a half hours of arm-breaking rowing and after being drenched like a θ½ζ±€ιΈ‘!
Everything was cold and wet including the water and the rocks lol things we do for photos π©
What I really looked like behind the scenes. LOL swimming very unglamorously with my life jacket in hand and totally freezing to boot π
A bunch of cold, hungry and wet people!
The river also took us along to some stunning waterfalls and our craaayyyy guides made us all go into the waterfall for pictures despite how absolutely icy cold it was!
My teeth were practically chattering with cold but it was a extremely out-of-this-world experience for us city kids who don't get to grow up surrounded by nature.
π€ Row row row our boat… Gently down the stream~~~ merrily merrily merrily merrily life is but a dream~~~π€
I woke up aching and sore all over on Day 4, thanks to the white-water rafting activities lol!
It was still a little overcast and rainy in the morning, but thankfully the weather cleared up right in time for lunch, where we spent a very enjoyable time at Yatule Resort by the sea front and enjoyed our first proper beach view wheeee!
I also had my first coconut in Fiji HEHE. π΄π°
Finallyyyyy blue skies and waters after two days of overcast skies! π
We were actually supposed to have some activities planned for the morning but some of the girls weren't feeling so well and our morning activities were cancelled instead π° It started with Xinlin who wasn't feeling well already even before the flight and then passed on to Mabel, Joyce and subsequently Jess and Evonne aiyo!!
So we took Day 4 slow, which was sorta nice as well, sometimes you just wanna relax and chill too π
Shirt previously launched on TVD,
Denim shorts I just bought from Cotton On, and gladiator sandals from Charles & Keith π
It was a gorgeous afternoon and the weather was super windy and nice by the sea!
Sometime really cute about Fiji is that almost all the resorts we visited had a welcome committee that greeted us with a cheery and happy welcome song accompanied on the guitar/ukulele!
And after they finish singing, they always end off with a loud and friendly "BULA!!" as you step into the resort.
Apparently, all Fijians can sing because they all grew up in Fijian villages in which communal singing is a huge part of their culture and society. I've yet to hear a Fijian who can't carry a tune!
I was just really happy to sip on my coconut and see the ultra clear blue skies for the first time in a few days. πππ
We then moved on to our next check-in at Sofitel Fiji Resort!
Lovely view of Sofitel Fiji!
Everything looks picture-perfect when the skies are so insanely blue.
I bought this crochet bikini in Fiji and it was really affordable, around 20SGD! β€οΈ
Checked in!!!
Clean and spacious suite in very nice and earthy colors and decor. Plus the sliding doors at our front deck directly leads out to the Watui Beach Club and ocean front!
Bathroom area!
Evonne all curled up in bed for an afternoon nap because she wasn't feeling so well bwahaha
This is where our front deck leads out to Watui Beach Club, talk about convenient hehehe ππ»β¨
We caught a beautiful sunset at Watui Beach Club while chilling in their infinity pool π It's an adult-only poolside bar and the vibes were so snazzy ππ»
Love
The pretty colors of the sky combined with a string of fairy lights = magic π
@evonnz took this shot of me! So so pretty, those skies and lights reflected in the waters.
We had our dinner at Lagoon Restaurant within Sofitel and ended the day with… Some shopping at the resort shop πππ
Holiday means can spend money right π
Bought a long-sleeved wetsuit finally ππ» I've been wanting to get one for the longest time (since before the trip) but never found any nice ones at all wtf. The shop at Sofitel Fiji had this really cute Aztec printed one from Billabong and so I couldn't resist!!! πππ
Perfect for outdoor activities in the sea or even during activities like white-water rafting to protect from the sun and other elements. Helps to keep warm too!
And since there was a matching cropped top in the same print.. Hehehe I also buy lor can wear to the pool with the matching bikini bottom (that is reversible!)
πππ
And this super chio hat that you might have seen already in my Instagram posts π Ignore my troll expression ya took this photo to show off my loot ehehe!
It's really hard to find hats that fit me well cos I have a small head and this one looked PERFECT on me so I got it though it was a bit pricey π Hope it doesn't get squashed in my luggage on the way home!! I love it!!
Retail therapy on holiday = BEST.
We woke up to the most magnificent clear blue skies on Day 5 whoop!!!
What a godsend for the day's activities: Island-hopping! It would have been a total spoilsport and mood dampener if our plans got foiled by rainy weather. Needn't have worried because the weather was impossibly fine with the bluest of blue skies and not a single hint of unruliness!
Took a coach ride out to Port Denarau where we embarked on a forty-five minutes long boat ride to our first island destination: Likuliku Resort!
The skies were so blue that the crystal clear waters reflected just as blue π Perfect weather, indeed!
Too excited for our island-hopping experience!
With @shiberty and @stopthepretence!
You wouldn't believe the amount of sun block I applied hahaha but the sun was really last warning kind of strong. After so many days of outdoor activities, all of us turned a few shades darker! π
Gonna embrace my "golden tan" while it lasts but I hope I'll go back to my regular color soon πππ
No filter needed for those blue skies and turquoise waters.
