Dear Dayre,

Hehehehe yesterday marked our debut duo gig at OBar!! πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰

Quite happy about it because it was a fun night 😬 There were some hiccups along the way but we really enjoyed ourselves on stage!!

Can't believe I finally busted out my guitar on stage after fifteen years. Yeah, the last time I played a guitar on stage was when I was 14 years old?? It definitely took some courage to bring it up last night.

The guitar is actually on loan from my guitar maestro, the guy who taught me how to play guitar 15 years ago.

When I agreed to take on the gig, the initial plan was to have Woon accompany our vocals on the keyboard, but we were worried that it would be too sparse, and so the idea of me accompanying along with the guitar popped into existence.

I didn't want to commit to the idea at first because I was quite scared. I haven't played for so long, and to ask me to learn how to play and sing through two sets of twenty songs was very very worrying.

Furthermore, we only had a lead time of three weeks or so, and this was also at the start of Hear Me Sing, which is already intensive enough with its competition schedule and weekly elimination rounds.

So I decided to ask Kel my guitar maestro if he had a spare guitar that I could borrow to practise on, and Kel said I could borrow his guitar but only on the terms that I had to play the guitar during the gig πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

No turning back anymore!

The first time I tried to practise on the guitar really got me worried because it felt so clumsy and foreign to even press a simple chord properly on the guitar! Super anxious just thinking about playing and singing at the same time.

Well in the end I bit the bullet and decided to just go for it hahaha accompanied quite a few songs on the guitar and tho it wasn't anything fancy, i think it was decent enough to bring out the singing, I hope!

倱落沙洲. I always do this song for gigs cuz it's such a nice song 😍

It was a really fun night lah!! Even though I made mistakes and all that haha but that's the beauty of gigging. The audience is so much more forgiving than facing a row of stern judges πŸ™Š

I'm really glad i agreed to the gig and pulled Woon in because we've been wanting to start wedding gigs together ❀️ I think I was really pushed out of my comfort zone this week. Was so so tired with all the never-ending rehearsals and stress from the competition as well as worry for the Obar gig.

The satisfaction from successfully completing the gig was worth it.

It's hard to describe the amount of stress and pressure from being expected to perform at your best every week. Very mentally and physically exhausting.

My voice has been hoarse from over-singing for the past few weeks.. Every time it recovers a bit and then gets hoarse again after another gig night or competition day πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

On top of that, I still have to cover my other "jobs" (TVD/blog stuff) so I've been really behind on my blogging recently. Need to Jiayou!
