Dear Dayre,
Since its past midnight now and I'm waiting for YZ to come pick me up.. I'm gonna ramble a little!!
I really loved Inside Out! I watched it again on the plane to Japan because I missed the credits in the cinema and I just wanted to relive the movie again (though I slept through some parts..)
Did you watch the short clip that was released online after the movie? It's super cute but way too short!!!
The saddest part of the movie was Bingbong ๐ญ But it was so touching too, and made so much sense. Because as we grow older, all of our childhood fancies and imagination slowly die inside of us.
So the movie deals with emotions and the five main emotions that are personified inside the movie are: Joy, Sadness, Fear, Anger and Disgust.
I'm sure all of us can identify with these emotions and find ourselves being able to connect to these characters to some extent: I keep on joking with YZ that he's Anger because YZ has a short fuse and sometimes will explode just like Anger does with a stream of volcanic fire out of the top of his head ๐
Fish says I mostly appear as Joy and Disgust hehe and that my "Fear" character doesn't come out as much.
Rileyโs personality is principally defined by Joy, and this is fitting with what we know scientifically.
Studies find that our identities are defined by specific emotions, which shape how we perceive the world, how we express ourselves and the responses we evoke in others.
When Sadness first appeared in the movie, she annoyed me so much!! Like she was just so moody and depressed that I felt irritated at how she was screwing stuff up in the movie and turning happy memories blue and all that.
But by the end of the movie, Sadness became a much more likeable character that was actually useful and vital for the main protagonist Riley to function properly with a healthy spectrum of emotions.
Thanks to Sadness, the two lost emotions (Joy/Sadness) were able to connect to Bingbong (inside of Riley), and in "real life" allow Riley to connect with her parents.
Emotions shape how we relate to other people.
Emotions are of course extremely complex things and the entire range of human emotions were simplified into just five characters in Inside Out, though it still did a super good job of showing how emotions affect our personalities, decision-making, and communication.
Anyway, by the end of the movie, I loved Sadness liao hahaha she's just too blue and cute!!! And she was very smart and knew how to emphathize with others!
Joy ended up a little useless and selfish especially in that scene where she wanted to return to Headquarters by herself with the core memories.
Back to feeling and looking like a proper human being today ๐๐ป

Thanks to @evonnz who helped me capture a shot with our Olympus camera showcases at Raffles City! ๐
We attended an event together and then did some shopping at Raffles City ๐ I bought two turtlenecks from Warehouse for my upcoming trips! ๐
And then guess who I met up with for tea! ๐๐๐
Almost three hours but we had
too much to talk about and were still yakking non-stop when I had to leave.. ๐ @jazreeltan
We had tea at Two Bakers at Horne Road! Their tarts are very pretty but I might not go back just for those tarts. The food menu was more extensive than I expected though!
And I wanted to order luncheon meat fries but didn't in the end ๐
Becauseeeee I bought Kyoho grapes from Jason's Marketplace at Raffles City earlier!!!
Ever since I came back from Japan I am so so so craving for Kyoho grapes cuz the ones in Japan SO BIG SO SWEET SO JUICY. And seedless!
A huge punnet costs only about $12 in Japan, but it's twice the price in Singapore. I bought a smaller and non-seedless punnet for $12.90…. Still shiok but not as shiok as the Japan ones. ๐ญ
Kyoho grapes are the absolute best grapes everrrrrrr!
Me to Jazreel: I can't talk without my eyes scrunching up like this. *straightens out expression*
Jazreel: YOU JUST DID IT LEH!! And your eye bags went away!!!
Me: I know but I can't sustain it!!! ๐๐๐ And also I look very fierce when I keep my eyes open ๐ฎ
I really cannot.
็ฏ็ฏ็ผ is ็ฏ็ฏ็ผ.
Only when I'm angry then my eyes open up and my eye bags magically disappear ๐๐๐
My 99/100 candid shots eyes all like this ็ฏ็ฏ็ผ. ๐๐๐๐๐
Because @smileypill asked: here's what I think of the sweets we ordered!
Ondeh ondeh eclair: great concept but I expected something more spectacular somehow!
I feel like the traditional original ondeh ondeh with soft glutinous skin and burst-in-your-mouth gula melaka is already so good that any other variations of ondeh never really lives up to my expectations.
We were deciding between the Yuzu Lemon tart or Keylime tart but decided on Keylime in the end because it's supposed to be a crowd favourite!
Pretty good and very tangy though I found it very sweet. Could do with a thicker biscuit crust (especially on the bottom) to balance out the sweet curd I feel?
Last but not least, the strawberry cake!
I liked that the cream was very light and it wasn't too sweet! Quite a decent strawberry shortcake but it was really tiny, 2-3 good bites would be all it takes to finish it.
Three desserts, two teas for $30.
Cafe food is really ไธไธช่ดต. Next time lets go Bedok Reservoir Ba Chor Mee ok?? @jazreeltan $3.30 only 10% of what we spent ๐๐ป
