Dear Dayre,
UNUNUNUNUNBELIEVABLE~~~ π± I disappeared from Dayre after day 2 of Japan cos we were just so tired every day when we reached our apartment at night! Also, snapchat was a faster alternative lol.
So now I'm gonna try to do a speed update to bring my dayre up to current day~ *Operative word is try*
And here is my silly husband doing his best rendition of UNBELIEVABLE guys this song is such a horrible ear worm stuck in my head, along with that retro background tempo π₯π₯π₯
Day 3: Kyoto to Tokyo!
We rose for breakfast really early at our ryokan and were greeted by another awesome traditional breakfast spread!
Here's a shot taken within our ryokan compound. It was the most beautiful ryokan we stayed in! Booked via Roomarama π
As you can tell, it start raining that faithful morning so this is the first of many umbrella shots π And many rainy days yet to come!
Those trusty Hunter wellies are so well-worn by now, heh. They do a magnificent job in cold and rainy weather!
Taxi selfie. After a lot of hard work shoving four luggages into one car it's no joke I tell you.
We took a taxi to Kyoto station to make our way via JR to Tokyo! It's like 2.5h long journey but it's fairly comfortable I gotta say. Especially when you can have ekiben (railway bento) on the way!
Apparently train was travelling at 168km/h!
Yummy ekiben πππ
This one was some wagyu beef one ok~~ but cost about 1300Β₯!
We arrived at Tokyo Station and saw this super strange sight wtf there were men dressed in suits standing at attention all over the station!
?????
And when we stepped out of the station, it was still raining βοΈβοΈβοΈ
Anyway, after some long and drawn-out kind of crisis slash drama, we finally settled at our really posh and nice apartment located near Shinjuku, at Hatagaya station which is just a stop or two away from Shinjuku!
What happens every time we get into a taxi with our luggages.
Those Japanese ojisan are super patient and accommodating!!! Thank youuuuuu ππ»ππ»ππ»
SHINJUKU!!!
In the rain. Made a long exposure shot and it turned out quite brilliantly with all the cars turning into streaks of light!
But the rain stops no one in Japan cos it's mad crowded everywhere even with the rain!
And you'll see tons of these transparent 500Β₯ umbrellas that can be bought anywhere.
We walked around Shinjuku for a bit, visited BIC Camera which is one of the largest electronics megashop in Tokyo cos I wanted to buy a battery for my Oly EPL, and then headed off to dinner, which was YAKINIKU! πππ
Photo from @evonnz: it was ALL YOU CAN EAT YAKINIKU at 3100 per pax!!!
So many different types of meat and all very good!!!
Hello @evonnz @trishaliang @ronineel! ππ»ππ»
Sorry I'm doing so many videos cos I downloaded them from snapchat π
It's so easy to save down all those short snippets of video!
@ronineel took this really nice shot of us at Shinjuku in the rain!
Oh I was trying to do a 360 video when someone just rudely knocked into me fml.
EPIC LAST FRAME π
I guess I was asking for it cos I was standing right in the middle of the road where everyone were hurrying past in all directions lol.
And after dinner, we made our way to Donki, which is short form for Don Quijote!
One of @Evonnz's favourite shops mainly because they sell like ten thousand different brands of contact lenses.
And they sell just about everything else from B1 to Level 4 or something. Snacks, beauty stuff, random gadgets, apparel and shoes, iPhone accessories… You name it you got it!
There's a few Donkis in Tokyo but apparently every one carries different stuff!
And then we got so carried away at Donki hahaha we missed our train and had to take a taxi back home.
So you know taxis in Tokyo are crazy expensive!!! Starting fare at like 730Β₯ or something and it jumps 90Β₯ like every ten or fifteen seconds after the initial period. It's like watching the stock market go up FML.
We tried not to take too many taxis but had to take some here and there… Most expensive one was almost 5000Β₯ π±
Yup.
That ends Day 3~~ π
Day 4: Yokohama & MT Tape Expo!
Check out the new contact lens that I'm wearing, from @evonnz's stash bought at Donki~~~
These lenses are pretty but they look better on @Evonnz! Too brightly colored for me. But they are surprisingly comfy! Brand is Twinkle Eye β¨
Those two girls really went crazy at the MT expo, so be prepared to see some really pretty limited edition tapes on sale soon on www.livelovehoard.com! π Which is run by @trishaliang if you still don't know!
Glow in the dark washi. Cool huh?
Many tapes in those bags of loot! πππ
I bought a few for myself but it's probably only 1/100 of what the two of them bought lolol.
Took this while walking along the way from MT expo to where we had lunch at Bills!
I didn't know that Bills is the same one I went to in Sydney last year, but once I saw the menu, I recognized it! Their corn fritters are πππ
Devouring le corn fritters. So yum yum!
Evonne's berry pancakes which were very light and fluffy!
Those corn fritters are the best! Really crispy and tasty. Not gelat cos it's literally made of more corn than flour!
There was a holiday fair going on at Yokohama, and this young Japanese lady was all decked out in a colorful kimono! Love kimonos, they are so pretty.
We didn't get a chance to don on kimonos cos the weather was so bad while we were in Kyoto! Maybe next time, I hope βΊοΈ
LOL ignore my irritating voice hahaha I was taking a video of @ronineel taking photos of @Evonnz! Like a chio only!
Cherry blossoms spotted π Thanks to the rain, most of the cherry blossoms would have been blown off the trees but there were still some survivors.
We went back to the main city area after this and decided to go to the famous Shibuya! You know, the one with tens of hundreds of people crossing in all directions at the traffic junction. Here's my first time lapse of the junction. I posted another one on Instagram when it was drizzling and there was like a sea of umbrellas!
I can't remember what we did.. Probably walked around shopping and looking at drugstore stuff! I only remember my feet were hurting like craaaayyy π Or rather my knee π₯
Yes I kid you not we walked like 14-15km practically everyday!!!
Which is sort of awesome cos I didn't put on weight despite the huge amount of rice and also other yummy food I was stuffing my face with at every opportunity β€οΈ
And what we had for dinner: pork rice! Hmm it was pretty good but I think I ordered the wrong one, @trishaliang's was better!! Hers was pork with spring onion I think. Mine was with garlic and it wasn't as yummy~~
Made it back in time to catch the train yayyyyy and we crashed after cup noodle partayyyyyy! Japan is bad for diet.
And then it was π΄π΄π΄π΄π΄ time!
