Fine Dining at The Royal Mail, Ascott Raffles Place

Hello hello!

I can’t believe it’s the weekend again. Time is just flying by like nobody’s business! 🙁 It’s been a busy busy period for me as I’m preparing for so many things right now: Upcoming competition tour to Spain with the SYC Ensemble Singers, our concert performance, my wedding prep, regular TheVelvetDolls launches, amidst other exciting stuff!

Even my Dayre entries haven’t been as regular as I’d wish for them to be 🙁 But fear not, I’m still very present on all my various social media platforms and I haven’t disappeared off the face of the earth! I’m just struggling with my time management and trying to juggle all my various commitments. It’s pretty tough, but I know I can pull through!

A quiet dinner date with the man (aka fiancé which sounds kinda strange to me) is hard to come by recently, and I think the last nice date we had was at The Royal Mail, at Ascott Raffles Place.

A Modern Take on Classic British Cuisine in an iconic Singapore landmark.

The Royal Mail Restaurant & Bar is a 60-seater establishment housed within the historical and culturally-rich Ascott Raffles Place and serves modern interpretations of Classic British Cuisine where Roasts and Prime Rib take centre stage.

This is one fairly unknown and underrated restaurant that impressed us with an excellent experience, and both YZ and I would love to return to The Royal Mail again in the near future. I’ll let the pictures speak for themselves!

Sous Vide Half Maine Lobster $24
Baby Octopus & Bay Scallops $28

Pan Seared Foie Gras $24
Kurobuta Pork Chop $48

Casserole of Mushrooms $8

Sauteed Chestnuts & Grapes $12

Roast Prime Rib, Classic Cut $58
Lobster Linguine $28

Roasted Deboned Fish Of The Day $52

Dessert Platter For Four $38

Eton Mess $15
Chocolate Fondant $18

We really enjoyed ourselves tremendously at The Royal Mail. Although it’s fine dining, the portions were generous and we were so stuffed after the meal! Definitely changed my mindset of fine dining portions being super tiny and minute. Hahaha.

If you’re a fan of British dining and a meat-lover, you’d probably like the food at The Royal Mail, my favourite dishes were the Roast Prime Rib and the Roasted Deboned Fish of the day. They were masterfully grilled to perfection! Tender and delicious with wonderful flavour and texture. I also appreciated how well-balanced all the different dishes were, despite the hearty portions. Every single dish was rich but still palatable and delightful!

Settings-wise, I thought that The Royal Mail was really cozy and comfortable, which makes it a great choice for a special date/occasion. There’s even a bar downstairs where you can chill with a drink after your meal.
