Today’s blog post is on.. K-Beauty!
If you’re even living on Planet Earth, I’m very very sure you’ve noticed. Korean trends are taking over the world! D: Be it K-pop. K-drama, K-beauty.. Everything K is now super popular, and thanks to all the K-trends, I’ve found myself slowly being drawn into the world of K-everything too!
And I love K-beauty trends!
Why? Because last time, puffy eyebags used to be something to try to conceal and remove, but thanks to K-beauty trends, “aegyo-sal” (smiley eyes) is the hottest things to have! That makes me super trendy right now, since I’ve had aegyo-sal ever since forever! *smug*
And since K-beauty is all about a natural and flawless look, thick eyebrows have also become trendy now, and subconsciously, I have let my eyebrows grow out thicker and draw them even thicker, and I love the thick eyebrows look! 😀
So the very latest K-beauty craze that I never used to take note of but now loveeee, is wearing LIPSTICK. And it’s not just any normal lipstick colour, but a bold, striking shade of lipstick, with a natural and flawless base!
And recently, I was inspired by a very popular actress from a K-drama series to do this look..
有没有感觉? (Have K-style feel, yes?)
I super love this look, and the most important part of the look is the lip colour, which is Laneige Serum Intense Lipstick in Neon Orange! *hearts*
My inspiration came from Cheon Song Yi, who’s a character played by Jun Ji Hyun, super pretty Korean actress, in the popular K-drama: You Who Came from the Stars/ 來自星星的你!
See this scene of Cheon Song Yi applying a neon orange lippie in Episode 12 of You Who Came from the Stars/ 來自星星的你!
These few are my key products that I cannot do without!
Laneige BB Cushion (New and improved formula with Melacrusher technology! Super love!), Laneige Pure Radiance Eyeshadow Palette in No.4 and Laneige Serum Intense Lipstick in Neon Orange!
So the second lipstick that I tried from Laneige is the new Serum Intense range, and it is so love! I mentioned it before in my Dayre two months ago, and I have to say that it’s thanks to Laneige that I’m now a lipstick convert!
Here’s a hand swatch to show you the colour of the Laneige Serum Intense Lipstick in Neon Orange, the top is with three applications and the bottom is with just one application! The texture of the lipstick is amazing, it feels so smooth in texture 😀
It simply glides over with an intense pigmentation, but is so hydrating and with a gorgeous shine!
In order to create my K-beauty look, firstly, I pat on the Laneige BB Cushion (I reviewed the previous version here) all over my face for a dewy and natural finish…
Then I add just a bit of contouring to my eyes with the Laneige Pure Radiance Eyeshadow!
For the natural look, I only use the top and bottom right, which is the beige shade all over my eye, and the brown in the outer corner of my eyes for some slight definition. It’s very easy to do!
I didn’t like orange lipsticks last time, but now, I own more than one orange lipstick and they’re all from Laneige hehehe. Don’t you love how outstanding this lip colour is? I don’t know how to describe the shade, it’s like a deep orange that’s almost red but it’s not. And I never thought I looked good in red lipstick, but orange lipstick looks so much better with my complexion than red lipstick did, for some reason.
Another one of my favourite ways to wear the Laneige Serum Intense Lipstick in Neon Orange is to do it gradient-style! Gradient lips are yet another trending makeup style in Korea, and it’s easily achieved by using a lip applicator to gently dab colour onto your lips, focusing on the inner most part of your lips and leaving the outer areas nude!
Actually you’re supposed to use concealer or a nude lipstick to conceal your natural lip color first, but I was lazy so all I did was to use the Laneige BB Cushion to pat over my lips before applying the lipstick :X It works just as well!
This is great for the ladies who want to wear orange lip colours but don’t dare to go too intense first! Do it gradient style to get this soft, doll-like effect! I love how one lipstick can give me more than one look!
