Dear Dayre,
Happy lunar new year! 🌸🌸🌸
I'm doing that trick of turning my iPhone clock again to get my Dayre to post to the right day, because lately I've always been updating past midnight!
The first day of CNY is pretty standard for me: wake up, dress up, 拜年 to daddy, wait for relatives to come over, eat steamboat, mingle, and then go over to YZ's for a short while to 拜年 to his family too.
This year though, we had a really spectacular 梅花桩 dance by the lion dance troupe, which apparently costs a hefty two thousand dollar angbao wtf.
It was really a sight to watch though! Everyone was busy videoing away on their phones… 😂
For some reason or other, I always feel extra ugly and fat during CNY wtf. Same this year… Sigh. Need to get over this. I took like freaking 100 ootd shots and all of them were so ugly. Face, hair, body, everything just didn't look nice.
@evonnz said it was cos she wasn't there to be my ootd photographer 😂 Maybe! I guess I have to hire you to be my secondary wedding photographer liao!
Picked this as my ootd shot in the end cos I wanted badly to have an outfit shot cos the top is from #lilypirates! My dear neighbors @xiesimin and @yingdan picked out the top for me when I was last-minute raiding the offices for CNY clothes to wear 😂
Blue is supposed to be my huat color this year, so.. HUAT HUAT HUAT AH!!!!!
It was mostly a cheerful and festive day, but I had a bit of unhappiness with my mummy in the afternoon 😕
I usually give the parents angbao every year as a token of respect and appreciation, but I didn't manage to withdraw money in time this year cos I was clearing some of my work bills all the way til a couple days before CNY and thus didn't give my parents their angbao yesterday on 除夕.
My idea was to go withdraw the money today when I went over to YZ's cos he has an ATM right downstairs his place, then I could give my parents their angbao tonight.
But anyway, my mother started to ask about this angbao thing in the afternoon, and my aunt that was sitting at the dinner table together with us started to 加盐加醋 so I got quite annoyed and I told my mom,
"我红包一定给你的,不用怕啦"
Well my aunt felt that I was being rude and disrespectful, but my point was very simple, it's not like I haven't been giving angbao the past few years, and I don't need you to remind me cos no one likes to be reminded to do things like this right?!
I feel quite hurt that my mother felt she had to ask or even remind me, though it was also my fault that I didn't manage to prepare their angbao in time for 除夕 and didn't 交代 to them either.
Anyway, I gave my parents the angbao at night when they came back home and I explained to them nicely why the angbao was late and all that..
Apparently my dad was displeased too cos we woke up too late today to 拜年 to him and also cos we didn't 下跪 when we 拜年-ed 😰
"You know Uncle Kelvin's son kneel down to 拜年 to him one?"
But the thing is we never really had this tradition of kneeling down to 拜年 and we haven't done it the last couple of years.. Guess we'll have to do it next year then. I have nothing against it at all, but wah, I feel like anyhow also kena at gun point 😓
My family ah really hard to please sometimes..
爸爸妈妈,我真的不是个坏女儿… 😭
Nonetheless, here's my 难搞的一家族! Lol.
Including the two silly dogs whom I dressed up today in CNY clothes too.. Teehee. The tissue box and the princess! 😆
With the small sissy (and one of the few photos I look decent today…) hehe taking pictures next to her makes me look very fair 👍
