This week has been packed with back-to-back activities, but one of the most meaningful things I’ve made time for this week was a wonderful lunch at Pollen, Gardens by the Bay, and all in the name of doing good too!
A little background on the Make-A-Wish Wish Dish campaign:
The Wish Dish campaign is helmed by the Make-A-Wish Foundation Singapore, and 30 collaborating restaurants will be presenting their selected Wish Dish of the month and for each Wish Dish ordered, 50% of the proceeds will be donated to the Make-A-Wish Foundation Singapore. The goal is to sell at least 10,000 Wish Dishes this October and the wish is to light up the lives of kids with life-threatening medical conditions.
Doing charity really can’t get any easier than this! 🙂
I was really excited for lunch at Pollen, because it is located in the beautiful Flower Dome, at Gardens by the Bay!
This is my second visit to Gardens by the Bay (first time was for a TheVelvetDolls photoshoot..) and I haven’t been inside the Flower Dome either, because you need to pay for admission at the Flower Dome.
However, if you dine at Pollen, entry to the Flower Dome is free-of-charge! (Save $20! Awesome) Better still, just make a reservation with the restaurant and they will send a buggy to pick you up from the entrance of Gardens by the Bay, to the Flower Dome. So even if you’re all dressed up for a special occasion and wearing sky-high heels, no problem! 😀
Inspired by the Mediterranean culture and cuisine; and the unique environment of the Flower Dome at Gardens by the Bay, Pollen presents visitors with a welcoming fine-dining experience within a climate-controlled environment in an unrivalled setting.
I really like the simply decorated and posh interior of the restaurant, surrounded by greenery and natural daylight streaming in through the glass! Feels extremely spacious and serene.
We were brought to our table by the impeccably polite staff, and I couldn’t stop admiring these beautiful dining plates with plant and flower illustrations on them! Soooo pretty!
All for decorative purposes only though 😛 The plates were removed when we started our meal!
Even the menu comes with pages of illustrations/drawings. I really love graphic and illustrative touches very much!
We were first treated to a glass of sparkling wine before our meal, and I had a glass of Prosecco.
Lunch companions for the afternoon: my pretty babes Eve and Evonne! 🙂
We were served a trio of starters, risotto balls, bread, and pork crackling!
I loved the home-made seaweed butter. It was heavenly when spread on the bread! Super fragrant and melt-in-the-mouth. And I don’t even like butter, usually!
The Wish Dish for Pollen is the 300 day old Ribeye Steak (not on the menu) at $78. Half of the sale proceeds will go to Make-A-Wish Foundation, so that is a good $39 for every dish sold!
The generous portion of steak comes with fresh salad greens and chunky cut potato fries, and it is extremely hearty and satiating!
Right before tucking into our lunch!
I was initially worried that my stomach wouldn’t be filled with just a steak, but I was so wrong! The portion of steak (300g) was really satisfying, and along with the sides, it made an extremely filling meal!
I asked for the doneness of my steak to be medium, and it was perfect, extremely well-marbled and was so soft and chewy! I am a HUGE steak lover, and this so hit the spot for me seriously. I enjoyed it so much!
After we finished our meal, we proceeded to head to the second level of Pollen, located right inside the Flower Dome, for some refreshments and desserts!
It was a completely surreal experience to be seated at Pollen within the Flower Dome, surrounded by the sights and scents of lush greenery, while the chilled air-conditioned air kept us pleasantly cool! It almost felt like I was teleported to an autumn climate in some far-off exotic land like Italy or France!
We picked the Pollen “Tatin” (Verjus, creme fraiche, caramel, red and green apples)
Oh, fresh flowers adorned every table as well and added a pretty and cheery touch to the meal!
We were also served Petit Fours while we laughed and chatted, sipping on tea and coffee, and just enjoying the wonderfully lush and relaxing atmosphere within the Flower Dome!
Super love the colorful blooms all over the Flower Dome! Certainly planning a return visit soon!
If you have a special occasion to celebrate, or even a business lunch with important guests, Pollen would be an excellent choice! PS. They also have set lunches at $55++ which is really worth it, considering the fine-dining setting and quality of food!

Of course, during the month of October, do support the Make-A-Wish campaign and order the Wish Dish in order to do your part for charity!
Other than Pollen, I also visited Town Restaurant at The Fullerton Hotel for their signature Laksa at $24 (100% proceeds to Make-A-Wish Foundation for this particular dish!) so I’ll probably have another blog post for that soon!
There are also SO many other amazing restaurants taking part in the campaign, such as 1-Altitude (blogged about 1-Altitude here), Pizzeria Mozza (blogged about Pizzeria Mozza here), Fat Cow, Waku Hgin, DB Bistro and many many more!
The restaurants participating in this year’s Make-A-Wish Wish Dish campaign are:
CUT by Wolfgang Puck, DB Bistro Moderne, Guy Savoy, Osteria Mozza, Pizzeria Mozza, Sky on 57, Waku Ghin, Bedrock Bar & Grill, Fat Cow, Levant, TWG Tea At MBS, Shang Palace, Stellar at 1-Altitude, 1983-A Taste Of Nanyang, Absinthe, B-Rochester, District 10, Hashi , Intrepid Gastro-Bar, La Barca, LeVeL33, Majestic Restaurant, The Moluccas Room, Nassim Hill Bakery, Nosh, Oso Ristorante, Pollen, Rasapura Masters, Red House, Town Restaurant.
Just so you know, I’m not being paid for these posts, but I feel that it’s really worth sharing for a great cause! And of course, I love to eat, so this has got to be the easiest bit of charity I’ve ever done in my life, lol.
Also, when you take a photo of any of the wish dishes and uploaded it, remember to hashtag your photos on Instagram with #wishdishsg and #8dayseat! 😉

What I wore to Pollen! A sexy back dress in classic black with red suede heels that hardly see the light of day because they’re so dressy.
Outfit: Paris Open-Back Dress from TheVelvetDolls (upcoming) paired with obi belt, suede mary janes from New Look, vintage Chanel 2.55
I have a penchant for open back dresses and this one is absolutely divine! Elegant and simple. I couldn’t stop raving about the fabric, which is really luxe and high quality! It’s currently stocked in in limited pieces/sizes on our KissJane racks at Bugis and Citylink already. Very much in love with it! 🙂
TGIF TGIF! As usual, I have a ton of things I want to share here, but this entry is getting too long. I will update soon with some exciting news!
