HELLO FOLKS!!!
Yay! I’m finally here to share about my Hong Kong Disneyland experience!!
You won’t believe it, but on Day 1 alone, I took like 764 photos O_O It took me forever to vet through all of the pictures and select the ones I wanted to upload onto the blog! ๐ I had to resort to collaging as many of the pictures as I could, so that more pictures could get air time! I hope you enjoy this blog entry and pictures as much as I did experiencing and blogging about this trip!
Our flight from Singapore to Hong Kong was at 6am, via United Airlines, and I was so anxiously doing last minute packing the night before that I didn’t sleep a wink! It was only supposed to be a short 3D2N trip… I don’t know why I had so much to consider during packing. But I was so worried I’d forget to bring something really important, for instance, my camera charger, or the memory card, or forgetting my passport or my makeup =__=
Thankfully, nothing went amiss and we arrived at the airport, hopped onto our airplane and arrived in Hong Kong safely in like three hours?! Three hours and we were on our way to a whole new world waiting for us at Hong Kong Disney Land! *cue Aladdin theme song* HAHAHAHA. So corny, I know.
Here’s YZ and I with our sleepy 6am faces! But I was so so excited even despite the lack of sleep! :DDD I was like “Hong Kong Disneyland, here I comeeeee!!!”
From the airport, it is so convenient to get to Hong Kong Disneyland! Just grab one of the green or blue cabs when you exit departure, and tell the taxi driver to bring you to Hong Kong Disneyland. It’s super near, and will cost you about 90HKD?
In the span of a few hours, we had left the hustle and bustle of work back home in Singapore, and arrived in a totally different country, all set to experience the wonder of Hong Kong Disneyland! What is this, if not magic?
Our first stop was to check in at Disney’s Hollywood Hotel, which is one of two hotels at Hong Kong Disneyland! No better way to immerse ourself in the magic but by living and breathing Disney 24/7 :DDD
Scrambled to get my makeup done before we had to set off for the day, and Roseanne (a beauty/makeup blogger who I ran into at the airport!) was more than happy to help me with my makeup! Yay! Thanks Roseanne!! ๐
With lovely Roseanne! The four of us (Roseanne, her partner Jacob, myself and YZ) spent most of our trip together, so its the two of them I have to thank for obliging us with our photo requests ten thousand times a day ๐
It’s both YZ and my first time in Hong Kong, much less Disneyland, so we were both super excited like little kids!!!
Inside Hollywood Hotel! I love how Mickey Mouse motifs are hidden everywhere inside the hotel, it is so much fun and made the hotel stay extra special! I don’t know how to put it, it’s like seeing your childhood idol everywhere you go. Awwww! There’s also a gift shop selling all sorts of Disney and Mickey-themed items, from apparel, to toys, cookies, and every other imaginable merchandise!
After so much morning activity, our stomachs were famished! Lunch was arranged at Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel, and we took a resort shuttle bus to get over to Disneyland Hotel, which is the other hotel available at Hongkong Disneyland. This hotel was soooo popular that it was fully booked! And you’d see why, it is super super gorgeous!
Once you enter the hotel, there is a beautiful lobby area done up in Victorian style, with a huge overhanging chandelier and ornately designed furniture! AND AND AND. Bronze statues of Mickey and Minnie right at the entrance to welcome you!
At Crystal Lotus for lunch! We were seated right next to the full length windows and check out that lovely view. There’s a Mickey Maze right outside in the hotel grounds! I’d imagine the kids having a field day in the maze.
And… Please be prepared for cuteness overload. Hands down the cutest lunch I’ve EVER EVER had!!!
Pomelo Nectar and Duck Breast Salad
Our appetizer to start off the meal! Probably because I was so hungry, but this was so good! Refreshing and tangy, with the chunks of pomelo that went very well with the smoked duck breast. Yum!
When the waiter presented this on our place and lifted off the basket lid, I swear everyone at our table just went like “AWWWWWWW!!!!!”
HOW CUTE IS THIS?? Can you get any cuter??? NO? Ok look at what arrived on our table next:
Little Green Men Pork and Vegetable Bun
OMGGG little green buns made to look like the martians from Toy Story!!!! SO CUTE I CANNOT EVEN.
I don’t believe there is anyone who can look at these two paus and not think they’s cute. They. Are. So. So. So. Cute!
Nevertheless, cute or not, you have to be eaten!!!
Full of char siew goodness.. RIP Little Pig Bun!
Mickey’s Seafood Glutinous Pancake
Another one that’s almost too cute to be eaten! Ate Mickey up anyway and he tasted yummy with the special chilli sauce provided along with it!
Double-boiled Conpoy and Chicken Soup in Little Coconut
This soup came with a Mickey-shaped radish with dried scallop and carroty ears!!! How did they manage to make all the food look so so so cute? And it was delicious too! The soup was sweet and savoury and really good!
Mickey-shaped radish is going into my tummy!
The rest of our tasty lunch! The food at this restaurant was really good! We wiped out almost every single plate of food. Om nom nom! I especially enjoyed the fried rice. It looks deceptively plain, but was super tasty!
After lunch, we walked around and explored Disneyland Hotel a little bit.. It is really beautiful! I felt like I was in a fairytale already!
Touristy shot number one with Mickey’s bronze statue! ^.^
Look at the beautiful chandeliers! You can’t tell from my picture, but there are little glass slippers on the chandelier, probably as a tribute to Cinderella. There’s a huge gift shop in the hotel too, and one of the cutest things they sell are little princess outfits! We saw many little girls over the next couple of days dressed up as miniature Princesses and I swear they are super cute!
After lunch, it was time for us to head over to the resort park! Took the resort shuttle over again, and before we knew it, we had arrived… at Hong Kong Disney Land Resort!!!! Excitement all over again, because once you enter the park, you hear dreamy Disney music playing on the speakers, and that surreal magical feeling won’t go away!
HELLOOOOOO DISNEYLAND!
I love this!! Mickey Mouse shaped garden! In such pretty colors too! โค
“Here You Leave Today And Enter The World Of Yesterday, Tomorrow, And Fantasy.”
Look at that Stitch umbrella! Super cute! (This word is going to be grossly overused in this blog post.) And those are our park entrance tickets.. recognise your favourite cahracters from Toy Story? ๐
We arrived just in time to catch the afternoon parade: Flights Of Fantasy! You absolutely cannot miss the parades.. It was one of the highlights of my day! Once the parade music starts booming and the huge beautiful floats with Disney characters start parading down the street, I felt like I was a kid again!
Look at all the Disney characters, all happily waving to the crowd! There’s Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Donald Duck, Pluto, and even Chip and Dale!!! Awwww! And lots and lots of energetic and happy dancers and performances with HUUUGE smiles on their faces! The mood was so happy and infectious!
Upside down bumblebees bungeeing on their ropes.. So fun!
Everything was so colorful, so lively, and so fun that I didn’t know where to look!
Woody and Jessie!!! And dancers dressed up in Buzz Light Year outfits!
I looooove the Toy Story float! And there were alot of my favourites too, like Lilo and Stitch, and Lion King!
Every little girl’s favourite float.. The Disney Princesses!!! They had the easiest job, of just waving and looking elegant, I think. HAHAHA. But all of them were very pretty and princess-like!!
You really have to experience the parade in real life to understand how I felt at that moment! When you’re standing in the crowd and so so near to all your favourite Disney characters bigger than life, hearing the joyful parade music over the loudspeakers, and seeing the enthusiasm and energy of every single performer in the parade, the feeling is indescribable. I was so happy, I almost teared because I felt so overwhelmed! Sounds silly… I know.
After the parade ended, I still felt like I was in a happy daze. Lol. But we didn’t want to lose any time, so we started our embarkation to go on as many rides and see as many attractions as we could!
At Fantasyland, we passed by the Cinderella’s Carousel, which has got an assortment of beautiful horses, all of which have a different design! The queue for this ride was insanely long!
We started off by riding a hunny pot in The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh! And those two ladies in red were our lovely guides for the day, who showed us around and told us the stories behind every single ride and attraction! I love how enthusiastic and happy they were, and they were so genuinely excited to bring us around and share with us! it really made the experience extra special and interesting! Thank you! ^.^
So infected with the happy mood all about us!
One of my favourite sections! Toy Story Land!!
Toy Story Land is designed to look like Andy’s backyard, with larger than life toys that makes you feel like you’ve been shrunk down to the size of an ant! Hehe.
It was a pretty foggy day, but everything still looked ultra colorful and fun in Toy Story Land!
We went on the two most popular attractions in Toy Story Land, the Toy Soldier Parachute Drop and RC Racer! The Toy Soldier Parachute Drop didn’t look so scary, but when you’re up in the air, it’s really thrilling!! As for the RC Racer, I almost wanted to back out whilst we were in the queue because it is a U-shaped coaster with a vertical drop.. OMG.. But I decided to brave it in the end, and it wasn’t as scary as I thought it’d be! ๐ Spot the tiny us in the pictures! It was so exhilarating and we really enjoyed both rides!
On the Slinky Dog ride! You get a cute “Barking Pass” when you ride the Slink Dog, which got me a little dizzy with its up and down motions! Wheeee!
The weather was quite warm so we got ourselves a froyo from one of the snack vendors at Toy Story Land! It was surprisingly yummy, too! Also, I love how the benches were designed to look like colored ice cream sticks! Super super cute! โค
Our next stop was to Grizzly Gulch, where we sat on the BGM Runaway Mine Cars! It was everyone’s favourite ride!!! :DDD Super fun coaster ride that went through the “mountains” and went backwards at one point of time!!! It gave us a super adrenaline high, and we liked it so much we sat on it twice!! :DDD
We also went on the Jungle River Cruise, where we saw simulated creatures like elephants and cobras that looked super real and there was a scary section where there’s real fire and smoke just a few feet away from our boat! Really cool!
Are you a fan of The Lion King?
It’s one of the first few cartoons I owned and I love Lion King! We watched Festival of The Lion King, which is a live stage musical at Adventure Land and I enjoyed the entire show SO much!
I was really amazed with the singing (it’s sang live at every session!!!) and staging, and there were other acts too like trapeze dancing and even fire spinners! It was really stunning and I was enthralled throughout the performance!
Look at those elaborate costumes and props! I was really impressed!
The grand finale! I love how the performers interacted with the audience in the course of the show, because it made it so much more fun and personable! You really can’t miss this show when you visit Hong Kong Disney Land!
All too soon, it was already evening time, so we had our dinner inside the park, at Plaza Inn Restaurant!
And the amount of food we had… D: We were very hungry at first, but didn’t manage to finish the rice and ee-fu noodles because there was just too much for us. The dishes were all pretty yummy, and certainly satisfied our tummies!
Mickey-shaped dessert platter that still had all of us squealing over it!!! It’s mango pudding, watermelon, dragonfruit and coffee pudding! ^.^ The coffee pudding was especially delicious!
YZ and I with the cute dessert platter! What an adorable end to our meal!!
We had to finish our dinner by 7.45PM, because at 8PM, “Disney in the Stars” Fireworks commences!
IT WAS BEAUTIFUL!
The magic isn’t complete at Hong Kong Disneyland without the most spectacular display of fireworks! The fireworks display transformed the sky above Sleeping Beauty Castle into a gorgeous array of colors and lights, all themed to a Disney medley of songs that started and ended with “A World New World” from Aladdin.. The entire scene was so magical and beautiful.. I had goosebumps just watching the fireworks and listening to my favorite classic tunes from Disney. There were familiar tunes from Beauty and the Beast, Mulan, and many more!
You all know that fireworks look ten times better when seen in real life.. But here are some pictures anyway!
There’s just an incredible sense of wonder and happiness.. Like a dream come true! :’)
Right at that moment, nothing else existed, but the beautiful fireworks, the magical music, and the amazement of every single person in the audience. It was truly truly an indescribable experience! You really have to be there to experience it in person! Really and truly.
After the fireworks display, we left the resort park to retire for the night! But of course for us, the magic didn’t stop there, because we went back to our cosy hotel room at Hollywood Hotel! ๐
The hotel looked even more stunning at night, with the lit up facade! Even the lift button is designed in a Mickey motif! And when you enter the lift, Mickey and Minnie’s voices will greet you and tell you which floor you’re on! Our toiletries were designed with Mickey-shaped caps too!!! It’s like discovering little bits of Mickey cuteness in every corner!
Here’s our room, even the comforter has got geometric Mickey shapes.
We were so super tired out from the early flight and the full day’s activities, we fell right asleep! And the beds were super comfortable too ;D
The end of our first day at Hong Kong Disney Land.. It was such a wonderful experience, and no it’s not over yet! There’s another blog entry coming up for Day 2 and 3.. ๐ So please stay tuned for the rest of it!
xoxo
