Dinner at Taratata Bistrot

Some long over-due photos from dinner a few weeks ago with the favorite girls.. We’ve been planning for a dinner for the longest longest time (like MONTHS?) and it’s sad that everyone’s always so busy including myself sigh! Finally managed to fix a date that all of us could make it! YAY.

We settled at Taratata Bistrot for french cuisine after a lengthy discussion, recommended by Woon!

Taratata Bistrot is located along Keong Saik Road, which is within walking distance of Outram Park MRT! New food places are always popping up on Keong Saik Road, I can’t even keep track of them fast enough.

We went on a weekday night and the restaurant was fairly quiet, with just about a handful of occupied tables. The interior of the restaurant is furnished pretty simply but nicely, and it was dim and cozy, perfect for a romantic dinner haha but not so ideal for photo-taking :S

Fish and myself!

Aini and Woon ♥

Ordered a whole lot of food to share… the full works from starters, to mains and lastly desserts! Pig-out fest, heheh.

Lobster Bisque $14

The meal started off with an excellent Lobster Bisque that was hearty and full-bodied, it also came in a huge portion that even all four of us couldn’t finish off, in part because we ordered too many starters too I suppose?

Dozen Baked Burgundy Escargot in Herbed Garlic Butter $24

One of the stellar dishes of the night and it was super super shiok! Very tasty escargot baked in herbed garlic butter that was absolutely fragrant and delicious. One of the best escargot I’ve tried in Singapore, definitely, though I am no connoisseur when it comes to French food. The herbed garlic butter was so good I couldn’t stop myself from wiping it clean with bread that was served in a complimentary bread board. Definitely a must-try!

Pan-Fried Duck Foie Gras with Caramelized Pear $32

The portion of foie gras served was insanely huuuuuuuge!!! And so decadent I couldn’t eat more than a few bites though it was really good. The caramelized pear set off the texture and taste of the foie gras perfectly, and every bite was bursting with rich flavor. Not for the faint-hearted, but the foie gras fans will love this!

Duck Confit with White Bean Ragout $29

When I think of French food, the first dish that comes to mind is Duck Confit! This one was good, but the creaminess of the white bean ragout got to me after awhile. The duck was slightly on the dry side, but still tasty nevertheless!

Steamed Mussels with White Wine Sauces served with French Fries $34

Glad we ordered this instead of another meat, because everything else was so heavy on the palate that the taste of these sweet, chewy mussels were a delight! The white wine sauce was very savoury and surprisingly enough, the french fries were damn good! Crispy and fluffy.

Quail Stuffed Foie Gras and Braised Cabbage with Wild Mushrooms $33

This was nice (tasted like chicken haha) but I couldn’t really taste much of the foie gras! The inside seems to be stuffed with minced quail meat and chestnuts, which added a tinge of sweetness to the quail. Mushrooms are always my thing so I cleaned out the mushrooms on this dish. Noms.

Moved on to desserts thereafter, and to our surprise, the cake that we ordered came with a lit up candle, as the staff had asked earlier on if we were celebrating anyone’s birthday! Very commendable service, really.

The staff also very kindly obliged us in taking a group shot for us as well!

Pear and Chocolate Layer Cake with Pear Sorbet $15

I thought that this was quite nice, but nothing to rave about. Maybe I would have liked it with more chocolate, as the chocolate portion of the cake was somewhat underwhelming!

Grand Marnier Souffle $20

This was recommended by the staff as one of their signature desserts! The souffle itself was fluffy and airy, but the taste of alcohol (especially towards the bottom) was a tad strong for me. So I would probably skip this the next time!

In all, we enjoyed our dinner at Taratata Bistrot and left with extremely satisfied and filled tummies! The excellent service from the attentive staff also made the dining experience a pleasant one! So glad we finally made time for this dinner, I enjoyed the wonderful night with the girlfriends and can’t wait for our Christmas meet-up. ♥ Yayyyy!
