Review: Majolica Majorca Chapter 36: Secret Blink

Ever since I tried my first Majolica Majorca mascara when I was 19 years old, I was utterly and completely SOLD to the brand! I remember it was only available via online websites (who remembers the good old sprees on Livejournal?) and I always stocked up on Majolica Majorca mascaras whenever I ordered them online.

Then, I went to Japan in 2009, and bought my first Majolica Majorca eyeshadow palette, which I still have up to now, with back-up copies, because I loved it so much! It's not just the gorgeous branding and packaging which I love, but Majolica Majorca in my opinion, is one of the best value-for-money drugstore brands available.

So so happy that Majolica Majorca is now widely available in Singapore for quite a few years now, and even when I don't have anything to buy, I like to pop by Watsons whenever I see one, just to spend some time looking at all the MM products and admiring them! :D

I was privileged to get a preview of the latest Majolica Majorca Spring 2013 collection, Chapter 36: Secret Blink

Below are the 5 items that are available in Chapter 36: Secret Blink:

Lash Expander Edge Meister Mascara - SGD25.90
Lash Jelly Drop - SGD25.90
Majoromantica M (limited edition) -  SGD25.90
Skin Remaker Case 2013 (limited edition) - SGD13.50
The Little Humming Book 1 (limited edition) - SGD25.90

The Lash Expander Edge Meister Mascara and Lash Jelly Drop have already been launched, and the other 3 limited edition items will only be stocked on 28th Feb, 2013.

This beautiful palette was specially created to commemorate Majolica Majorca's 10th anniversary, and it is so lovely you might not bear to use it!

It is indeed a little book on its own, and has a song printed on it with musical notation and japanese lyrics.. how quaint!
The palette consists of two eyeshadow shades [Flower Dust] and [Green Shower], one eye cream base [Moonless Night] and one lip gloss [Tulip Bed].

The interesting thing about this palette is that the eyeshadows can either be used on their own for a sheer wash of color, or layered over the eye cream base for a more intense color that's almost metallic! I had a lot of fun playing with the different combinations to create my very own unique look!

All you need to do is to apply the eye cream base first, before layering the eyeshadow over it. It took me a couple of tries to get the hang of it, but the end result was gorgeous! I love shimmers in my eyeshadows and Majolica Majorca eye palettes never fail to deliver that sparkle to my eyes.

Majolica Majorca mascaras: Still my first love when it comes to mascaras! I felt right at home with the plastic comb applicator, though some find it hard to use. It's great for separating and coating every single lash with that awesome mascara formula that Majolica Majorca is famous for!

If you're as confused as I am with all the different types of Majolica Majorca mascaras available, here's a comparison table for your reference!

The Lash Expander Edge Meister helps to lengthens your lashes, at the same time strengthening them for beautiful long lashes. It has a duo comb that widens and separates each lash, which means that every lash will be coated. The upper comb is meant for the upper lashes while the lower comb is meant for lashes at the corner or your eyes and your lower lashes. It is also sweat, oil, tear and water proof.

You can see the amazing lengthening effect of the Lash Expander Edge Meister: from barely visible lashes to beautiful long lashes that are separated and defined! I only used one coat of mascara to achieve this effect, as Majolica Majorca mascaras tend to get clumpy if you layer them too much.
And here's a huge-ass picture of my complete eye look: I didn't have on cheek or lip products because I was focusing on just the eyes!

This limited edition case is specially made to contain Majolica Majorca's Skin Remaker Pore Cover! The Skin Remaker Pore Cover is a powder foundation that evens out pores in a single stroke and provides a long-lasting, fine-textured smooth finish. It also has satin powder and sebum catching powder to give you radiant skin, contains SPF, non-comedogenic and is dermatologist-tested.

I love how gorgeous the case is, especially the embossed emblem and gold finish! Majolica Majorca really does have one of the most beautiful packaging around.

Majolica Majorca’s Skin Remaker Pore Cover comes in 4 shades, BO10, BO20, OC10, and OC20.

The Lash Jelly Drop is a rich lash treatment gel for eyes and treats each damaged lash by providing shine and elasticity. It is formulated with Arginin which is a hair repair ingredient, and also wild rose extract and glycerin which helps to moisturize the skin along your lashline. You can use it both in the morning and at night: yes, even before your mascara! Just remember to let this dry before mascara application!

The Majoromantica Mystic Garden Scent is a concentrated rich scent with a mixture of floral, fruity and sweet notes.

Black Rose, Rose, Freesia, Peony, Jasmine, Violet, Lily of the Valley, Pear & Orange Peel dominate the top notes, and at the heart of the fragrance it has June Berry, Raspberry, Strawberry, Blueberry and sweet chocolate. The base notes are made of Brown Sugar, Cedarwood, Sandalwood, Amber, Musk, and Cacao Powder.

At the first whiff, this is fruity and citrusy, but leaves behind a strong floral musk that is quite heavy on the nose. I dabbed it on my wrists and behind my ears, and found that the fragrance had nearly dissipated by the end of the day. Do give it a try at the Majolica Majorca counters, you may love the fruity and floral scent of this perfume!

My top picks of this collection: the Lash Expander Edge Meister and The Little Humming Book 1! Two lovely products I'm more than happy to add to my collection. Majolica Majorca is exclusive to Watsons in Singapore, and can be found in most Watsons outlets!

Psst. For more reviews /swatches, pop over to Jayne's and Evonne's blogs! ;)

The Burger Bar by Fat Boy's (Far East Plaza)

Ladies and gentlemen, if you've yet to taste a burger from Fat Boy's, you don't know what a REAL burger tastes like.

Good burgers in Singapore are hard to find, and I used to be a Macdonalds burger kind of girl, but I never knew what I was missing out on! Until I got my first taste of a burger from The Burger Bar by Fat Boy's Concepts! This newly opened burger joint is located in the heart of town at Far East Plaza Level One, and I know where to go now whenever I need my burger fix in town!

What's so awesome about The Burger Bar, is the fact that you can customize your burger however you want it. From the bun, to the patty, and right down to the condiments and toppings! For all of you fussy eaters out there who spend five minutes picking the pickles out from your burger, or even removing the sesame seeds from your bun, (you'd be surprised but I actually know people who do that =_=) THIS IS THE PLACE FOR YOU.
Ordering has never been more convenient! You can place your order via two iPads available at The Burger Bar, and it's easy peasy and fun to use!
Deciding on my burger... Cheeseburger or hamburger? Sesame Bun or Brioche Bun? Beef patty or Grilled chicken patty? Endless possibilities!
Sauces that you can pick from. Definitely truffle mayonnaise for me!

The burgers start from $6.50, and with every add-on, you pay about $1-$3 depending on which toppings you choose, so you'll probably end up paying around $12-$15 if your burger is really decadent, my burger cost $15.50! Lol.

A word of caution to the wise. Please do not be greedy pigs like us, and just stick to maybe 3 add-ons maximum. I promise you'll thank me for it later. Lol. We each had 6 different toppings for our burgers, and they were monstrous!

Placed our orders for two burgers and two sides.. and when our food arrived about 15 minutes later, I was FLABBERGASTED D:

Mozzarella Cheese Sticks!
YZ's insanely HUGE burger, honey oat bun, pork patty, sunny side up, grilled bananas, caramelised onions, pickles, lettuce, tomato.. with peanut butter sauce.

The combination of pork patty with bananas and peanut butter sauce was recommended by Vernon, who said that this combination went REALLY well! So YZ decided to be a little more adventurous and went for it. Unique, but the end verdict: yums!
It was so huge that it couldn't even be eaten the normal way (ie, chomping on the entire burger holding it in two hands). YZ had to dissect it apart in order to eat it!
I ordered chilli cheese fries, with wasabi mayonnaise sauce! Noms.
And.... my burger.
Toasted sesame bun, beef patty, swiss cheese, bacon, caramelized onions, portobello mushroom, pickles and tomato with truffle mayonnaise sauce.

Damn sinful I tell you. But so so so so good!!
Check out the beef patty. It was juicy and tender and succulent! All their patties are made from freshly ground meat and grilled to perfection!
Oh by the way, I have never seen such giant onion rings before in my life!
Got bottled juice that's available as well, helps to wash down all that food!
My burger that's practically bigger than my face.
Thumbs UPPPZ.
YZ and I enjoying our huge ass burgers. I can tell you it took some effort for me to finish every last bite, but it was sinful goodness in every mouthful! We were starving when we arrived, and absolutely stuffed when we finished our meal!
The joint is pretty small and really casual, very no-frills sorta dining! You might have to squeeze a little but I'd say it's worth it.
With my gorgeous Jayne who invited us over for the grand opening! :D
Oh oh guess who else was there! Jun jun! Jayne's uber adorable nephew! For some reason he really likes YZ tsk! Usually it's so hard to even get his attention but he let YZ carry him :O
Adorableeeeeee *pinches cheeks*
Peggy and Aileen arrived just as YZ and I were about to go, so we managed to grab a group shot together with Vernon and Jayne! Oh, The Burger Bar is actually co-owned by Justin and Vernon (of the Muttons) and Bernie (owner of the original Fat Boy's) so CONGRATULATIONS GUYS!!! I'm sure it's gonna be a smashing success, what with the fantastic burgers!

Go check out The Burger Bar everybody!

Event: pureDKNY A Drop of Rose

I'm actually not a huge fan of perfumes.. I know there are ladies who have an entire dressing table covered with a dozen different perfumes, and love them to death! Never been one of them, but I've now discovered a new scent that I actually find myself wearing on multiple occasions, which is really a rare thing! (In fact, it is already rare that I even wear any scent.)

pureDKNY now brings to us, a drop of rose, a drop of goodwill.

“Naturally derived rose from turkey. In the rich soil, rain and sunshine of the isparta valley grows the perfect rose-lush, fragrant, pink. Once a year women, men and families work together harvesting full blooms by hand. Starting early dawn, roses are gathered one by one, then brought into the village for distilling. the process reflects the tranquil spirit of pureDKNY. Soft and sensually romantic, one flower, one love, one scent – pureDKNY, A Drop Of Rose.”

This scent doesn't just smell good, but is born out of goodness.

More than a fragrance, through DKNY’s partnership with CARE, a leading humanitarian organization, pureDKNY is helping to make an impact on improving the financial future for women, one drop at a time. By purchasing its rose from local farmers in Turkey, the majority of whom are women; pureDKNY has taken a step to help secure long-term production of rose production in Isparta.

I love the clean and fresh scent of roses in this perfume, just spritzing it on makes me feel more feminine immediately! It's a very wearable fragrance with no overwhelming musk or heaviness, and I've been reaching for this delicate bottle surprisingly often! YZ loves the scent as well, and thinks it's heavenly ;)

pureDKNY A Drop of Rose is available at all major department stores at the following prices/sizes/variations:

pureDKNY A Drop of Rose EDP (50ml) – $96 SGD
pureDKNY A Drop of Rose EDP (100ml) – $132 SGD

In Singapore, pureDKNY partners with a local social enterprise, Mother and Child Project™, which seeks to empower disadvantaged women in Singapore so they can be equipped with a skill to work from home, have the time and capacity to take care of their children and ultimately, be self-sufficient. In the spirit of empowering women in Singapore, pureDKNY has purchased handicrafts made by these women from Mother and Child Project™

With compliments of pureDKNY, you will receive an artisanal handicraft with every purchase of pureDKNY a drop of rose. Visit pureDKNY’s event at Robinsons Raffles City Water Court from 20 – 26 Feb (that's until this coming Tuesday!) and be a part of this good cause.

We were given a little lesson in sewing and trying our hand at making our very own stuffed heart key ring, and the kind folks from Mother and Child Project™ patiently guided us through this challenging procedure (Lol.. when was the last time you actually sewed something other than a button?)

I did put in my best effort, and thought that my little blue heart came out pretty decent! What do you think?

The event was held at Parco Caffe, which is a lovely restaurant/cafe that's subtly garden-themed with a very nice indoor alfresco area, where we were seated.

The canapes that we had were really tasty, and I think I ate quite a fair bit! :X Heard that the brunch served on weekends at Parco Caffe is to die for, and I may go back for another visit, if I have a means of transport because this place (Raeburn Park) is one ulu land. Hahaha.

My simple look of the day. I just realised that I took this picture before I applied my mascara on, but oh well, it looks pretty okay still so I'll just post it up! Haha.

Been donning on this Scallop Hem Suede Skirt that's upcoming on TheVelvetDolls more times than I can count because it's just one of those pieces that's just so comfortable and easy to wear! :)

Wishing everyone a happy weekend ahead! :)
